This is one of my favourite Samoan songs. I love hearing Samoan families singing it. The way the melody moves so effortlessly and the dimension the harmonies bring. It’s a farewell song written in the 1900s. Growing up, I watched my mum siva (dance) to this song countless times. It’s also a song that I have heard the Aggie Greys Hotel string band play. Aggie Greys is a popular hotel in Samoa that members of my family have performed at for the past 50 years. It’s also where my Mum and Dad met.

From Foloi
A song of farewell released in the 1900s, a favourite to a lot of people. The story said that this song was taught by the Samoan that went with the Methodist Missionary to the Western Solomon Islands in 1902. There are some Solomon Islanders that can sing it in Samoan.
